The Free Dominion is for anyone who is curious, especially if you’re curious about financial markets, trading, human psychology, personal development, philosophy, entrepreneurship, and/or freedom. You’ll find me sitting at the crossroads where these subjects meet, attempting to expand my understanding of each.
If you’re looking for stock tips, high frequency day trading, or get rich quick promises, you won’t find those here. Patience is an overlooked quality in trading and life, so I attempt to use it to my advantage in both. My trading systems are designed to be simple, slow moving, and reduce stress while extracting consistent, low volatility, low correlation gains from a variety of marketplaces.
Whether you’re here for the Market Notes, the Freedom Notes, my daily market reads, to find community in the Chat, to learn about trading systems and risk management, all of the above, or something else, I’m glad you’re here!

I am fascinated by financial markets. Enough so that since 2018 trading has been my primary professional pursuit. I came to financial markets after starting my career in real estate development followed by ten years as a restauranteur and a handful more as a one man business consultancy. Markets persisted as an interest during those parts of my career, but it wasn’t until I decided to sell the restaurants that a handful of synchronicities led to my deeper exploration of trading.
I never worked at a bank or a hedge fund or a family office. I am self-taught and allow my curiosities to guide me. By most standards, I’d be considered a novice. If you asked the voice in my head, it’d tell you I’m an imposter, but it would have told you that during the real estate, restaurant, and consulting years, too.
I studied economics, finance, and entrepreneurship in college. I’m not sure that really matters much in trading beyond understanding some of the basics, which anyone with an internet connection or a library card can learn over a weekend. If I had a resume, I guess it would say Independent Trader at the top. That doesn’t look or sound nearly as cool as Restauranteur. Independent Tradeur, maybe? It’s really the independent part that matters most to me now rather than the reaction of others when they ask what I do.
Independence. Freedom. That’s really what this is all about.
I use this platform to share my weekly notes that dive into what I’m seeing in markets. I’ve written these notes for years but they were for my own use. I hope that by sharing them they will bring value to others, help my own process, and create a community around this oftentimes lonely work.
I also use this platform to share my exploration of freedom, a topic that has fascinated me since I was a kid. Those posts have more of a philosophical tone but there is always meaningful overlap with markets and trading.
